Liberal Bias on PBS? Abso-not-really-lutely

Despite the efforts of Colorado Congressional members Bob Beauprez, Joel Hefley, Tom Tancredo, and Marilyn Musgrave, the House voted last week to restore $100 million in funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The funding helps media entities like PBS and National Public Radio stay on the air. Republican critics have long charged that PBS is "too liberal", a claim I was ready to dismiss until I took a look at "Sesame Street" myself. I was surprised with what I found: Oscar the Grouch A homeless guy allowed to live in a trash can who is a nuisance to area children. Only liberals would allow the homeless to live and not work amongst children. Bert & Ernie Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. They're just roommates. Yeah, right. Before long Bert & Ernie will be on the courthouse steps asking why they aren't allowed to get married or at least have a civil union. Liberal puppets indeed. Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy Homosexuality is the gateway to bestiality. See? We told you so. Cookie Monster He doesn't have a job that anyone can see, and he's always eating everyone's cookies. Leave it to liberals and their "welfare state" to discourage this monster from gainful employment. Big Bird Liberals are cowards. Cowards are yellow. Big Bird is yellow. Thus, Big Bird is a liberal. Tickle Me Elmo Where are the family values of a puppet who throws itself on everyone asking them for a tickle? There's a fine line between tickling and prostitution, and liberals think that prostitution is a victimless crime that should not be outlawed. Grover Is it a man or a woman? Probably a transsexual. Only liberals would let transsexuals have contact with their children. Count von Count Sure, he teaches kids to count. But it's probably that liberal "voodoo economics." At least that other vampire, Count Chocula, had a tasty cereal and contributed to the economy. Aloysius Snuffleupagus With a name like that, he must be an illegal immigrant. Liberals love their illegal immigrants. Maybe PBS should have been shut down after all. "Sesame Street" is overrun with liberal bias.

This all sounds sick to me. Glad I didn't check it out sooner. A Sooner

Welcome to Scott's Historical Revisionism class... In fact, we went to war with Germany because they declared war on us, and with North Vietnam (be specific) because they attacked U.S. forces. We went to war in Korea to ensure that the peninsula couldn't be used as a springboard for China for invading Japan, which we'd spent four years and hundreds of thousands of American lives to rid of Tojo and his militaristic cronies (you know, the ones that pulled off that little deal in Pearl Harbor). If Japan had gone communist, the Cold War would have turned out very differently (how's the prospect of a techno-advanced Japan allied with the Soviets and Chinese hit you?). True, Kosovo and Somalia didn't attack the United States, but then again, we didn't send 140,000 troops, lose 1,700 soldiers, or spend hundreds of billions of dollars in either conflict, did we?

I read while in Colorado that three millionaires were shaking up the political scene. More power to them Colorado needs shaking up.

Nicole, I assume you are referring to all countries we bombed who have not attcked us including Germany (FDR), Korea (Truman), Vietnam (LBJ), Kosovo (Clinton), Somalia (Clinton).

I really hate all this liberal/conservative crap. Just shut up about it already! Just because someone leans one way or the other doesn't mean they're a bad person. I'm so sick of all the hatred!!! I'm neither a liberal nor a conservative, as I believe the majority is. I'm an AMERICAN who values equal rights to all, without regard to sex, religion, race, sexual orientation, etc; I treat people how I want to be treated (fair, kind and honest); I value a government who is honest and fair to it's people, one that carefully makes it's decisions based on the good of the people; and the freedom to engage in verbal discourse without being belittled, labeled, talked at instead of to, or vilified because I believe in something that someone else may not. I stand for much more, but I refuse to be told how I should live my life by a bunch of narrow-minded, bible-thumping, self-righteous, super-rich egotists. I am an AMERICAN, therefore I have the FREEDOM to live how I want. Everyone is different and should live their lives according to their own personal beliefs and values.

Obviously, the truth hurts poor Tom. How's this for a better idea: Cookie Monster bombs Elmo's house. The rest of the gang decide to blow up Cookie Monster's house, and go after Miss Piggy and Kermit's house, and give it to Grover, even though there is nothing to link them to destroying Elmo's house, and no guarantee that Grover might be a nicer guy than Kermit or Miss Piggy. Why? Because, as we all just know, Miss Piggy and Cookie Monster have talked to one another on occasion and may be "linked." The Count, being the logical guy he is, says that this might not be the best way to get back at Cookie Monster, but Oscar the Grouch calls him a "liberal," says he should move to France, and the invasion of Chez Kermit and Piggy begins. So the bomb the living hell out of Miss Piggy, only to find that she had no links to Cookie Monster, had no plans to do anything wrong to Elmo, and Grover can't rule the Kermit and Miss Piggy's old house. The answer? Blame it all on the Count, of course. If he wasn't such a liberal, none of this would have gone wrong.

Looks like Nicole belongs in another country where she won't be so oppressed! Love it or leave it Nicole!

How about a children's show where they bomb other countries that didn't attack us, kill over 130,000 civilians (read: not insurgents), and steal their oil? That would be great!

You forgot to mention that most of the characters are constantly being fisted.
