We're excited to announce that, effective with the February 2006 issue, 5280 will publish monthly. There's a press release (requires Adobe Acrobat) that spells out all the details, but let me just offer up a few personal notes. A few years ago, when the magazine began to turn the corner financially, we committed ourselves to taking a good magazine and transforming it into something great. Our first step was to invest in our tiny editorial staff, who had been working long hours and were ready for some reinforcements. In 2004, we doubled the size of our editorial department, and will likely grow by another 50 percent in 2005 (assuming we can find a new office big enough for all the extra desks). Those investments paid off more quickly than I had hoped, but were really just a first step. Now, with a great team assembled, we're ready to take the big leap. The new monthly 5280 will better serve both advertisers and readers -- and, after all, they're the good folks that got us here in the first place.
