The Bold and The Beautiful

You've gotta respect Wilma Flintstone. Even waaaaay back in the day, she had a very good eye for fashion. Remember those groovy necklaces of hers? Now you, too, can be a modern-stone-age style icon. One of my favorite local jewelry designers, Jenn Urbom, is hosting a special trunk show tonight. Her designs are big, chunky, and made from lovely hunks of semi-precious stones. There's something primal and satisfying about wearing them, with the large, cool slabs of agate, turquoise, quartz, coral, buffalo horn, or other natural materials gradually taking on your body heat and warming to your skin. And, naturally, they are gorgeous. These are statements pieces, more daring than delicate, but definitely they'll get you noticed. Check out the goods in person tonight at a fashion trunk show held at 893 S. Corona (at Kentucky) in West Wash Park from 5 - 9 p.m. Bring your checkbook, (you'll surely find one you can't live without) and don't say I didn't warn you.
