Denver Post Features Bob Beauprez
Did any of you read the Sunday Denver Post's feature article on gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez? I didn't think it was a very flattering portrayal. Neither did Colorado Pols or Colorado Lib.
I found the disclosure that Claudia Beauprez signs notes to her husband as "Mommy" embarassing and more than a bit wierd. Why would they want that known? Then I remembered that Ronald Reagan used to call Nancy Reagan "Mommy." Maybe Beauprez is hoping readers will make a subliminal connection?

Hmm . . . I would like nothing more than to see Ritter elected (except seeing Clinton elected president), but I think this is a bit innapropriate. The president's personal life should remain personal (so long as it isn't in the Oval Office) as should Beauprez's. It's time for us liberals to stop playing politics, to stop taking the moral high ground when it helps us and playing dirty when it hurts "them." Let's keep some sort of ideological consitency to our beliefs.
We're better than they are; let's act like it.

Thanks for the link. The "mommy" thing is disturbing. But ultimately, I'm concerned far less with Beauprez's personal oddities than with the other issues highlighted in the Post's article. Beauprez's political past is filled with flip-flops and alleged corruption. And his plan for Colorado is willfully vague.
Meanwhile, Bill Ritter has a clean record and clear ideas about our state's future. I hope Colorado's voters show the good sense to elect him in November.
