Take the High(land) Road

Literally. The Highland Pedestrian Bridge is open for business. The opening festivities take place all day on Saturday. It all starts when Mayor Hickenlooper cuts the ribbon at 10:30 a.m. and the bridge over I-25 will officially connect the East Highlands neighborhood to Riverfront Park. Throughout the day they'll have the Denver Municipal band and a mariachi band, hay rides, bouncy castles for the kids, and at 1 p.m. food and drink booths will open up along both ends of the bridge. The newly opened Highland Bridge Lofts are offering tours; check out the chic downtown residences here. At 5:30 there will be a ceremony as the bridge is illuminated for the holiday season, and after 7 p.m., neighbors will find themselves wandering into area eateries like Lola, Vita, My Brother's Bar, Paris on the Platte, Forest Room Five and Mona's.
