Great Scoop!

One of the great things about the Internet is that it makes it easier to hold the media accountable for things they report. For example, take this story from CBS4 Denver sports reporter Gary Miller:
The Denver Broncos have traded quarterback Jake Plummer to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, CBS4 Broncos Insider Gary Miller reported Friday. The Broncos will receive a fourth-round draft pick, according to Miller. The trade could be officially announced as early as Friday.
Wow. What a scoop by "Insider" Gary Miller. The way this is written, it sounds like Miller broke this story all by himself. Except that he didn't. The time stamp on this CBS4 story says it was posted at 9:09 a.m. I heard about this on ESPN radio well before 8:30 a.m., and it looks like it was on ESPN.com before that. Miller could have gotten away with this 10 years ago, but it's easy to look it up on your own now.
