Dog the Bounty Hunter Back at Work in Colorado

Dog the Bounty Hunter, also known as Duane Chapman, and his wife Beth have spent the past week in Colorado Springs. Many Coloradans may not realize the famous Dog is from Colorado and used to operate his local bail bonds business here full-time before he moved to Hawaii. In fact, he made bonds for my clients. He was a great bondsman. One of my clients bonded strongly with him during months of Duane's daily calls to his house to ensure he was in the right place and walking the straight and narrow. Later, Dog became a household word with his notorious capture of fugitive convicted rapist Andrew Luster, an heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune, in Mexico. With his subsequent reality TV show on A&E, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Dog and Beth are now celebrities in their own right. So what brought Dog and Beth back to Colorado the past week? To catch bond absconders, turn them in and make some money.

We're trying to help keep the streets of Colorado Springs clean," said Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter," Chapman Tuesday night. We arrested 12 people," said his wife Beth Tuesday.

Dog is feeling the unease anyone would feel not knowing if Mexico will succeed in ordering his extradtion back to Mexico to face charges over his capture of Luster. The one thing Tom Tancredo and I have ever agreed on is Tancredo's attempt to intervene with Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice to spare Dog from having to return there. His case is now before Mexico's highest court, and yes, he told me, he's feeling nervous about it. He must be working off the stress by getting back to work. His latest grab:

32-year-old Melissa Lucero, a.k.a Melissa O'hara. Lucero's faced charges of forgery and theft in the past. But her past has as many bright spots as dark. "She was a vice president of a bank," Chapman explained. "And then this evil thing called methamphetamine got a hold of her husband and her life."

To which Beth adds,

This is our home. We don't like seeing it go to meth," said Beth.

I think it is a awsome thing that you do. And I admire your family for what they do and where they have been and how far they have come in life. We need more people pou there who genuinly care about people and don't judge by what you have done, where you come from. or where you are in life. I have been looking for a way to write to Beth and maybe get some advise. Keep up the great work. And maybe some day I could chat with beth on line and get some insught on helping the people who I love and care about the most, who are headed down a bad road.
