The New Phone Books are Here!

The new Yellow Pages plopped on my doorstep this afternoon. Remember when that was a big deal? Steve Martin does. Today? Mine went straight into the recycling bin.

Sorry if I struck a nerve. I was only speaking for myself, but I'm sure many, many others share my experience. Not only is net access growing rapidly (72 percent of Americans have access to broadband), but it's quickly becoming ubiquitous (iPhone, Treo, Blackberry). It's quicker to Google something than it is to haul out the phone book. That will only continue to become more true.

Why don't you use Yellow Pages?? US adults referenced them over 15 billion times last year. 90% of all adults reference them at least once a year, 75% in a typical month, and 50+% on average month. How about on average 1.4X each week? And let’s remember that not everyone is as lucky as you are to have Internet access.

I received THREE separate phone books within the last month. every one of them went straight to the recycling bin.
