Denver May Get $50 Million From Feds for DNC Security

The House of Representatives will vote tonight on a $900 billion plus ominibus spending bill. Thanks to Rep. Diana DeGette, it includes $50 million for security funding for Denver and a like amount for Minneapolis, host cities for the Democratic and Republican conventions this summer. DeGette said she spoke with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and things look good for passage. There could be a glitch though. The House version contains no funding for the war in Iraq. When it gets to the Senate tomorrow, such funding could be added. Then the bill would have to go back to the House and, at that point, its fate is unclear.
