Health magazine is out with a list of the healthiest chain restaurants — including 10 sit-down eateries and five fast-food joints — and the list includes two Denver-based winners and a few surprises.

Chipotle and Noodles topped the fast-food list, along with Panera, which has numerous area locations.  In the sit-down category, there were a number of restaurants that you’d hardly think of for nutritious dining, but, in fact, do offer healthy options. Perhaps the biggest surprise? Denny’s.

Denny’s offers lots of skinny options to counter its fatty mainstays. “Fit-Fare” dishes all have less than 15 grams of fat each.
Their use of trans fats to cook its French fries kept it from landing higher on the list, but the rest of the fried food is trans fat-free.

Dig in.
