I had the opportunity to attend the Denver Police District 4 Commander's meeting this morning (6-11-08) as a representative of the Athmar Park Neighborhood. The Athmar Park Neighborhood Association began advocating for Broken Windows policing after the murder of Officer Donald Young at a neighborhood night club in May 2005. Broken Windows policing began in Athmar Park in February 2008 and to-date has had the following results according to District 4 Police:
Felony Arrests - 119
Misdemeanor Arrests - 442
Traffic Citations - 523 (Including two of my fellow neighborhood association board members. Fair is fair.)
Parking Citations - 7
Car Impounds - 52
Street Check - 94
Good Neighbor Flyers - 39
Reduced Total Crime - 24.8% since started project; compared to crime in 2007
Broken Windows works! At today's meeting, representatives from other Southwest Denver neighborhoods asked when they can get Broken Windows policing.

Weren't there skeptical remarks here a year or two back about the Denver PD's implementation of "broken windows" policing? Care to revisit them?
