With the exception of Pasquini’s Pizzeria, the South Broadway dining scene has long been a wasteland. But the block north of Pasquini’s is quickly becoming a foodie haven, enough so that Platt Park residents (already endowed with gems like Sushi Den, Pajama Baking Company, and Gaia Bistro) are wandering over.

They browse for wine at Divino Wine & Spirits, dine on steak frites at Bistro One, and peruse the shelves at Urban Pantry. This months-old shop’s well-edited selection of gourmet goodies–such as artisanal farmstead cheeses, Route 11 Potato Chips, and Chardonnay-infused peanut brittle–is an exciting neighborhood addition. Choose from made-to-order baguette sandwiches, or pick up a hostess gift of special tapenade or honey. Either way, owner Alexandra Failmezger, a New York City native and former restaurant professional, will help guide you through the shop’s 700-plus items.

Bonus: Stop by on a Saturday for a product tasting.
