Mail-In Voting Recommended for Colorado

September 2008

Colorado is expecting a very high turnout for the November election. In addition to heightened interest in the presidential race, we will be electing a new Senator to replace retiring Republican Senator Wayne Allard, and there are 18 ballot initiatives. Governor Bill Ritter and others are recommending voters obtain a mail-in ballot. From the Rocky Mountain News:

Record turnout is expected for the Nov. 4 election, and the ballot will be the longest in decades. A record number of voters cast ballots by mail for the August primary, and officials hope even more choose this option this fall to make counting faster.

Lines will be long on election day. Voting by mail makes sense. You can get the application online here (pdf). For other forms or questions, visit the Colorado Secretary of State's Election Center.
