Bump & Grind For Sale

The sign taped to the front window doesn't lie. Bump & Grind, one of our favorite, off-beat coffee shops, is for sale. I have especially fond memories of the Uptown spot because 5280's first office was located a couple blocks away. Our staff regularly walked over for caramel lattes (before Starbucks dreamt up the caramel macchiato), stacked sandwiches, the kissed peanut butter cookies, and decadent Caramel Knowledge bars. Many a story was written and an editorial meeting held in the confines of the funky, über-urban hangout. I'm saddened to hear the shop, after 12 years of success--and raucous weekend Petticoat Bruncheons--is on the block. Visit Bump & Grind while it's still B&G--and pray that another, mind-numbing Starbucks doesn't open in its spot. 439 E. 17th Ave., 303-861-4841

Sad day.

Maybe we should start a petition--preserve Bump & Grind!
