Bargain Bites: Boa on West 32nd

Over the weekend I discovered Boa on West 32nd, an Asian-Mexican comfort food restaurant in Highland's Square. The spot opened about three weeks ago in the former home of Fuego's (and, before that, D'Eggos). Though decor is sparse, the eats--choose from the West or East side of the menu--are fresh, delicious, and inexpensive. Favorites include the cozy Korean Bibimbap (white rice topped with veggies, Sriracha, sliced meat, and an egg), stuffed sopaipilla with chile sauce, and comfy Malaysian Rendang (beef or chicken cooked with Malaysian spices, coconut, and pearl onions). The generous entrées run $8.50 to $11.95--less at lunch--and come with two sides. Of those, the fideo, a Mexican vermicelli soup with green chile and tomato, was so tasty I can't stop thinking about it. (The soup, plus an order of the crispy blue-corn taquitos, would make a fine lunch.) The Boa experience will only get better when the restaurant gets its liquor license, which is in the works. Bonus: Pick up a take-out menu and find a 15 percent-off coupon tucked inside--use the discount before November 2. 3464 W. 32nd Ave., 303-484-9628

My wife and I stopped in here because we wanted to give it a whirl. We were somewhat expecting fusion cuisine (like Zengo). But, we found that the menu was divided between east and west. However, we were delighted by the food. Our potstickers were delicious, my carne asada tacos with cucumber salsa were fantastic and my wife loved her noodle dish. We'll be back!

We also tried Boa a few weeks ago, we were in the neighborhood and just happened to walk by and saw a table opening up for a larger group so we decided to check it out. We were not dissapointed! It was absolutley delicious, the coconut shrimp was excellent and so was the sesame chicken. My friend that had the Mexican food were also very pleased, and yes the fidelo was to die for. We were so happy that we told our server to give our compliments to the chef and she actually came out to greet us, it was a wonderful experience.

I recently visited BOA and was pleasantly surprised. We were there with a huge group and everything was tasty -- both the Asian and Mexican dishes were delicious. What was most impressive was how great the owners and staff were. . .I will definitely go back!
