Best Weekend Bets: Gorillas, Collectables, and Neo-Soul

Sports
Sat: Denver Gorilla Run 11:30 a.m. Wynkoop Brewing Company, 1634 18th St. $50 (return registration), $99.95 (first-time registration, includes gorilla suit). 720-244-9938, official website When hundreds of gorillas tear through downtown, you might think there's been a breakout at the Denver Zoo. But the annual run is actually Denver's most unusual awareness campaign. Each year participants--dressed in gorilla suits--jog this 5.6K, reminding Denverites that these African primates are in need of protection.

Art/TV
Through Nov. 29: Collect This! Sat 2:30 p.m. Rocky Mountain PBS, Channel 6, official website Wondering what to do with your childhood comic books? How about the coin collection? Fret not. Aaron LaPedis, of Cherry Creek's Fascination St. Fine Art Gallery, may have an answer for you in Collect This!--his new PBS show about how to make money on collectables--which launches this weekend. Music
Sat: Maxwell 8 p.m. Paramount Theatre, 1621 Glenarm Place. $59.50, $149.50. 866-461-6556, official website In the late '90s, the name Maxwell might not have conjured thoughts of morning coffee. Maxwell the R&B singer had too many Grammy nominations and popular hits to be confused with a ubiquitous brand-name grocery item. A six-year tour hiatus, though, has given coffee an edge. Until now. The neo-soul artist hits the Paramount stage this Saturday with new songs, including "Pretty Wings," which he previews on his MySpace page.
