Best Bet: Kronos Quartet & Alternative Radio, Saturday at Newman Center

Combining the renegade classical sounds of San Francisco's Kronos Quartet with the fiercely independent point of view of Alternative Radio host David Barsamian, this distinctive pairing promises global insights. Special guest Diane Wilson, a dedicated environmental activist and author of An Unreasonable Woman: A True Story of Shrimpers, Politicos, Polluters, and the Fight for Seadrift, Texas, joins Barsamian for a discussion intertwined with fittingly progressive music. 7:30 p.m. Gates Concert Hall, Newman Center for the Performing Arts, corner of East Iliff Avenue and South University Boulevard, $28-$52, 303-871-7720, Newman Center Box Office or Ticketmaster
