Something You Might Have Missed During Nuggets' Elbowgate

While the sports press was mired in the elbowgate scandal involving J.R. Smith this week, New Jersey's Asbury Park Press reported that the Denver Nuggets guard also faces contempt of court charges. In 2007, Smith was in an accident that resulted in the death of a passenger in his SUV, and he failed to show up in court this week. He's now scheduled to appear for all the charges on February 17. As for whether the elbow he threw against a Dallas Mavericks player should result in suspension--as in-your-face Mavericks owner Mark Cuban would like--the National Basketball Association reviewed and closed the case with no penalties, according to the Rocky Mountain News.
