Food Politics: An Inauguration Meal

Just after his swearing in, President Barack Obama sat down to an inaugural lunch of Abraham Lincoln's favorite foods (seafood stew, duck and pheasant, and apple-cinnamon sponge cake). To commemorate the occasion, we suggest going out for a local meal that nods to our new president's favorites: tuna salad, chili, pizza (made in a wood-burning oven), and peach cobbler. Mona's makes a cranberry-and-scallion-laced tuna melt that puts Obama's homemade version to shame. Stop by the Wynkoop Brewing Company for hearty buffalo chili--a Western spin on the President's choice soup. Or head to Marco's Coal-Fired Pizzeria for wood oven–baked pizzas and Steuben's for warm peach cobbler topped with smooth vanilla ice cream.
