X Games Good for Aspen

With the recession hitting the sporting world, not even the X Games are immune. The games, which feature extreme events such as racing snowmobiles, will probably bring in less revenue than expected this year, according to general manager Chris Stiepock (via The Denver Post). Still, X is good to Aspen. Nearly every bed in the valley is filled when the games are in town. And Aspen Skiing Co. officials and the X Games are talking about extending the current contract beyond 2010. Bill Tomcich, president of Stay Aspen Snowmass, says the X Games are critical to the lodging biz.
