Avalanche Playoff Hopes on Thin Ice

Seven losses in the last eight games, including four straight losses at home, and the Colorado Avalanche is already in "serious danger" of dropping out of playoff contention, with 32 games left to play. And it won't be any easier tonight at the Pepsi Center, where the team faces the Northwest Division-leading Calgary Flames, the Rocky Mountain News points out. "To find a way to get out of it, you dig down and you give everything you've got to make sure we stop this thing," coach Tony Granato said following practice on Sunday.
