Colorado Rapids Say Goodbye to Christian Gomez

One of the biggest signings in Colorado Rapids history, 34-year-old Argentine midfielder Christian Gomez, will return to D.C. United--essentially what amounts to a "yearlong rental" of Gomez, writes The Denver Post. Gomez scored just three goals last season, and he "languished on the bench" when coach Gary Smith replaced Fernando Clavijo in August. "I felt the team just really didn't adapt well to Christian's style or what they were being asked to produce with him in the team," Smith said. Backup goalkeeper Mike Graczyk goes to United, too, in exchange for United's Honduran defender, Ivan Guerrero, and a second-round pick in 2010.
