The Ritz-Carlton nestled in Vail Valley's serene Bachelor Gulch will close for a month following ski season for the first time since it opened more than six years ago. The resort won't take reservations for visits from April 14 through May 20, and about 350 service employees simply won't have jobs during that period, according to The Denver Post
. It's the latest indication that people are cutting back on expenses at all levels of the economy.
And it seems there's stiff competition for jobs in the ski industry. As the Rocky Mountain News
reports, residents in Colorado resort towns are increasingly turning to ski jobs to improve their bottom lines, such as Keith Darner, 44, who teaches snowboarding, but also sells real estate and runs a mountain biking biz.
