Zac Posen's runway shows can be overwhelming affairs, as the designer tends to favor sumptuous fabrics and highly sculpted designs. But by the time this collection gets translated to the retail level, there is always a well-edited selection of lovely dresses for local ladies to choose from. This wool, peaked-shoulder sheath is a chic and surprisingly tame standout. The Gist of It: Recession or not, Posen loves glamor, and his opulent fall collection works that theme to the max. Fabrics such as metallic jacquards, small-floral print chiffons, brightly colored silks, and even a couple of rich plaids paraded down the runway in a variety of swagged, draped, ruffled, and pleated dresses. A few tightly constructed jackets, usually belted or tied at the waist, and some lean trousers made an appearance as well.
