Best Music Bet: Bassnectar

bassnectar_fenceface01For a brief time following the crackdown on raves, the music that fueled those parties seemed to be equally at risk. But in San Francisco, the party lull didn't slow DJ Lorin Ashton, who was working to put together a collaborative project, Bassnectar. Today, the DJ represents some of the country's most cutting-edge electronic music, with an inclusive approach to diverse genres--break beats, drum and bass, hip-hop, and dub, to name just a few. Saturday promises a high-energy show for loyal fans (SF Weekly wrote that Ashton "probably has the largest cult following of any DJ in San Francisco"), as well as those with a simple penchant for tireless dancing. Sat, Feb. 28, 8 p.m. Aggie Theatre, 204 S. College Ave., Fort Collins 970-482-8300, $20
