Foodie Events: A Deal and A Dinner

This week, forget the laundry, taxes, and even the family, because food is more pressing. Wednesday night Fromage to Yours throws "A Spirit Cheese Tasting." The last time the Centennial-based shop hosted this indoor food fair of local artisans, including MouCo and Haystack Mountain, appetizer gurus Primo and 34 Degrees, and even dessert mavens Rocky Mountain Rustic Foods, the cost was $25. But tomorrow's gathering, which features a talk by local distiller Todd Leopold, is only $10. Then Thursday evening, make a date for Tambien Cantina's annual mezcal dinner ($75). Once a year, chef Sean Yontz (of both Tambien and Colfax's Mezcal) pulls his best bottles of the agave liquor off the shelves and pairs them with a multicourse meal. This year, Yontz has assigned out each of the courses to a guest chef. Dave Query (owner of Big Red F restaurant group) serves roasted scallops, Lola's chef Jamey Fader will be making a chocolate duck sope, and Yontz' brother Cy Yontz, of The Rio Grill in Carmel, California, is preparing crisp pork shank. Each course is paired with a different pour of the smooth, Oaxaca-made Scorpion Mezcal. A Spirit Cheese Tasting, Curtis Ballroom, Comedy Works at the Landmark, 5345 Landmark Place, Greenwood Village Scorpion Mezcal Dinner, Tambien Cantina, 250 Steele St., 303-333-1763
