Ice Cream: Sweet Action

sweet-actionEver since I tried Sam Kopicko's caramel-y Vietnamese iced-coffee popsicles at Parallel 17 last fall, I've been waiting for the former restaurant server to open her own ice cream shop. Last week, she did. Just a block north of Deluxe and Beatrice and Woodsley, Sweet Action Ice Cream--operated and owned by Kopicko and her boyfriend, Chia Basinger--serves up flavors to match last year's Asian-accented treats. My favorite is the smooth, creamy white Russian ice cream that tastes as if it has been poured from an old-fashioned glass straight into my biodegradable ice cream cup. But the baklava, swirled with huge chunks of honey pastry, and the vanilla porter, made with Breckenridge Brewery's dark suds, won kudos from my group. Even bigger props, though, go directly to Kopicko and Basinger, who work with Diamond D Dairy in Longmont and LoHi's Savory Spice Shop for their ingredients, and whose modern shop is 100 percent wind-powered. 52 Broadway, 303-282-4645 Photo by Sarah Swartzendruber

Good catch, Sporobolus. We've made the directional correction to the post. Thanks for your feedback.

it's north -- Sweet Action is a block and a half *north* of Deluxe, etc.
