Ward Churchill, who is suing the University of Colorado to restore him as a professor, is expected to take the stand in court today to tell his side of the story, according to The Associated Press. Yesterday, Churchill's attorney, David Lane, accused CU law professor Mimi Wesson, the woman who headed the committee that investigated Churchill for scholarship fraud, of bias, Boulder's Daily Camera reports. Churchill claims CU fired him because of his controversial essay on the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, in which he compared some victims to Nazi Adolf Eichmann, who engineered the Holocaust. Churchill has said the essay was taken out of context, but Wesson described it as "cruel and gratuitous," writes The Denver Post.
