Denver Center Theatre Company Unveils Premiere-Packed Season

The Tony Award-winning Denver Center Theatre Company's 2009-10 season offers three world premieres: "Mama Hated Diesels," a new musical by Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman; "Eventide," the sequel to the company's popular "Plainsong;" and Rogelio Martinez's "When Tang Met Laika." That's according to Playbill, which notes the company will also mix in classics such as Shakespeare's "Othello" and "A Christmas Carol," among others such as Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun" and the Pulitzer Prize-winning "August: Osage County." With this sort of lineup, you have to wonder how good the season might be if they hadn't made $1 million in budget cuts, leading to fewer jobs, fewer plays, and a shorter season, The Denver Post writes. Arts organizations are making do with less, as KUNC reports in a visit with three nonprofits.
