Colorado College Drops Three Sports Teams, Including Football

Citing the need to cut spending, Colorado College has announced plans to cut three teams from its athletics program: football, softball, and water polo. A letter notes that the Colorado Springs college is the only Division III program in the Mountain Time Zone and that the cost of travel is high, according to Inside Higher Ed. The teams that were eliminated were chosen based on "competitive success, conference affiliation, available facilities, fund-raising success (or endowment earnings), roster size, and recruiting success.
