Daniel Kagan Takes Over Colorado House District 3 Seat for Anne McGihon

Lawyer Daniel Kagan, 56, might throw you off for a second. Although his English accent comes through, he's been stateside a long time, doing things like defending the poor in Washington, D.C., courtrooms. On Monday, he became Colorado's newest member of the state's House of Representatives, reports The Denver Post, bringing a pro-union, pro-working class, pro-regulation (as needed) agenda. Kagan replaces Representative Anne McGihon, who left the District 3 seat to pursue her career. The Democrat said, "If it's left-wing to believe that nobody should go without health care, shelter and confidence that they will have food--as much as they need--in the weeks to come, then so be it. I am a left-winger." He has expressed support for same-sex marriage and opposes standardized testing for public schools, according to the Denver Business Journal. Kagan was born in England to parents who met in a Nazi concentration camp, writes the Denver Daily News. He's a Yale Law School graduate who became an American citizen in 1984.
