While the funnel clouds spotted by DIA on Tuesday afternoon luckily never touched down, the skies stayed overcast well into the evening. Photographer Lucy Beaugard was inspired, not deterred, by the inclement weather, and took off to the airport to capture this dramatic shot of a field of sunflowers. Maybe there’s a future in storm chasing for her?

Storm Chasing

A springtime snowstorm is so sure to whip up that National Weather Service meteorologist Frank Benton tells the The Denver Post he would “bet my life on it.” By tomorrow afternoon there could be about two feet of snow in places along the Front Range. But it could melt fast, as highs on Monday are expected to hit the 50s and even the 70s on Tuesday.

Statistically speaking, April is one of Denver’s snowier months, according to CBS4, which predicts, unfortunately, this weekend’s blast may be the last moisture the region experiences for a while. The climate outlook through June is bone dry, and temperatures could be warmer than normal.
