They're up against European powerhouse resorts in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, and St. Moritz, Switzerland, but the Vail-Beaver Creek bidding team thinks location is an advantage. The two-week championship hasn't been in Colorado since 1999, and the 2013 Alpine skiing world championships in Schladming, Austria, will mark the seventh-straight European venue.
