How the Avs Are Going Back to the Future

How many times should the Avalanche reach back to the team's glory days of the 1990s for answers to what plagues them now? They did it when they brought Peter Forsberg back in February 2008 (via The Associated Press), and now they're apparently going to do it again. Former Avs goalie and current junior hockey coach Patrick Roy has reportedly been offered the Avs head coaching job, according to The Denver Post. It's unclear whether he'll accept the offer, and current Avs head coach Tony Granato still has two years left on his contract. The Avs have nowhere to go but up. They finished last in the National Hockey League's Western Conference this year, and their 199 goals ranked last in the league. After this post was published, Patrick Roy denied that a coaching offer had been made. Read about it here.
