Fewer Than Six Degrees From Kevin Bacon?

Buntport Theater cares little about your six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon. Instead, the company wants to know about the close encounters: if you've seen the celeb, shaken hands with him, or better yet, spent enough time with him to have some first-hand gossip--the kind of juicy tale Buntport is looking for during tonight's open performance session. On the third Tuesday of February, May, August, and November, the Buntport turns its stage over for Teacher's Pet, an open mic in which each participant has exactly five minutes to stage a reading. Just like show-and-tell, these readings follow a theme, and this month's is "surprise encounters with celebrities."  At the end of the evening, the performer with the best presentation (a.k.a. the teacher's pet) will receive a prize. So good stories about Bacon--or Madonna or even President Obama--are necessary if you plan to win the privilege of eraser shaking. Tue, May 19, 7:30 p.m. Buntport Theater, 717 Lipan St., 720-946-1388, $4-$6
