How John Elway Feels About His Son Quitting Football

John Elway tells The Associated Press that he knows it's not easy to follow in his footsteps and that he's okay with his son Jack's decision to quit football at Arizona State University last month. "Obviously, he had the talent to play in college. But it wasn't in his makeup. As I told him when we were talking about it, 'You know, if you don't love the game of football, it's too hard. It's physical and it's a brutal sport. You have to absolutely love it," the Denver Broncos' Hall of Fame quarterback said at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock last week. Elway also said that he received insights from another former Broncos' quarterback, Brian Griese, whose Hall of Fame father, Bob, was a star quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.
