When I crave something sweet, my standby is ice cream–any flavor will do. But after tasting Rocky Treats Patisserie’s cream puffs, I’ve got a new vice.

Owners Nario and Sachiko Young have won me over with their airy, decadent treats. The duo bakes its from-scratch profiteroles several times daily and fills them with custard-y cream to order. Pick your puff (traditional or cookie-crumb topped), and choose from a rotating assortment of cream flavors: vanilla bean, chocolate, caramel, strawberry, rum raisin, and green tea. My favorites of the bunch are the rich vanilla, the buttery caramel, and the fruit-dappled strawberry.

When I visited the seven-week-old bakery, Nario told me business has been slow. My guess is that people walk or drive right by the nondescript strip-mall shop–and that’s a shame, because these sweets are some of the best in the metro area. And lucky for me, they’re just as affordable ($1.99-$3.25) as a scoop of hand-churned ice cream.
