Last night's 11-1 win over the Anaheim Angels was historic for the Colorado Rockies in a couple of ways. The Rockies won their ninth straight road game, something they've never done. (The team is 17-1 over the last 18 games, "transforming from a boring underachiever to a legitimate contender," writes The Denver Post.) But more important was pitcher Aaron Cook's seventh win of the season and 59th as a Rockie, which makes him the winningest pitcher in team history. Cook (pictured), now 7-3 this year, has come a long way from the young pitcher who almost died during a 2004 game at Coors Field after developing blood clots in his lungs. Last night was great all around, with consistent hitting, strong pitching, and a three-run home run for outfielder Brad Hawpe, who turned 30 yesterday. The Angels have now lost three straight after their own seven-game winning streak, notes The Associated Press. The two teams will battle again tonight starting at 8:05 p.m. (Fox Sports Net).
