University of Colorado basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik may be feeling the itch to get back into coaching in the NBA. Bzdelik interviewed for the vacant Minnesota Timberwolves position earlier this week, according to the Rocky Mountain Independent. Bzdelik coached the Denver Nuggets for a couple years before getting axed midway through the 2004-2005 season. The Independent notes there are several candidates for the job, including former point guard Mark Jackson, Dallas Mavericks assistant and former head coach Terry Stotts, and L.A. Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis. CU officials believe Bzdelik isn't going anywhere, though (via Boulder's Camera). "[Jeff] remains as excited as he's ever been about Buff basketball," says CU athletic director Mike Bohn. "His commitment and work ethic to move this program north are at an all-time high." Bzdelik had a good two-year run as basketball coach at Air Force before taking the CU job in 2007, the Camera writes. But his performance in Boulder has been lackluster. Taking the Minnesota job could prove to be equally frustrating; they're one of the worst teams in the National Basketball Association. Then again, a pile of cash and a move back up to the top could lure Bzdelik away.
