After Greeley's JBS Swift Beef Co. recalled more than 40,000 pounds of sirloin steak and ground sirloin in Colorado and 12 other states for potential E. coli contamination last month, you'd think beef industry executives everywhere would leave nothing to chance. But now, with 14 Coloradans experiencing symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, King Soopers is recalling nearly half a million pounds of ground beef possibly infected with salmonella, according to The Denver Post. The illnesses have been linked to a batch of beef sold in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming between May and June that was labeled with the U.S. Department of Agriculture establishment number "EST. 6250," writes 9News. Salmonella can be life-threatening to people with weaker immune systems.
