Another Win for Medical Marijuana

You have to wonder why police and prosecutors even bother trying to bust patients with a prescription for medical marijuana. And you have to wonder what they thought of Jason Lauve, smiling and waving while holding his cane outside the Boulder County Justice Center after being acquitted by a jury for possessing too much medical marijuana. Lauve, of Louisville, faced roughly three years in prison for a felony drug-possession charge and lesser charges after being busted in a home raid for having too much medical marijuana. After hearing the verdict, he burst into tears, exclaiming loudly to jurors, "Thank you so much" (via the Daily Camera). Boulder District Judge Maria Berkenkotter ordered that more than two pounds of marijuana be returned to Lauve, who uses the drug to ease pain associated with a skiing accident from several years ago. The ruling might hearten Dr. Dave Jensen. The chiropractor in Basalt is helping to establish a medical marijuana dispensary out of the WIN Health Institute, an alternative health-care cooperative, according to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent. If you recall, last month the state's Board of Health backed off a proposal to limit how many patients suppliers could support in the face of massive protest.
