Colorado-based cyclist Jay Henry is no slouch. He's been competing for years and is the Mountain States Cup cross-country points leader. It would be fair to assume he had a good chance of winning this past weekend's Blast the Mass race in Aspen, but some Aspen local named Lance Armstrong beat him by more than three minutes. Armstrong, 13 days after finishing third in the Tour de France, cruised to an easy victory in the cross-country race, covering nearly 23 miles and 4,700 vertical feet in a few minutes short of two hours (via The Aspen Times). Armstrong reportedly hadn't even been on a mountain bike in nearly a year, but he still managed to claim another championship, with the race serving as the state championship for cross-country, four-cross, downhill, and Super D, reports VeloNews. Meanwhile, The Denver Post notes that Governor Bill Ritter met with Armstrong after the race to further discuss the possibility of bringing cycle racing back to Colorado.
