Authentic Flavor at Mamma Mia Trattoria

Westminster's 88th Avenue is an unlikely spot for an authentic Tuscan restaurant. But that's just what you'll find at chef-owner Mario Petit's Mamma Mia Trattoria. Petit, a native of Florence, captures the understated elegance of Italian cuisine in his minuscule restaurant. His big-flavored dishes---think savory homemade lasagna and chicken- and ricotta-stuffed manicotti with pesto---are satisfying but never overly thought. And charred-crust pizzas further summon the Italian countryside with fresh toppings like peppery arugula, tender prosciutto, and silky, house-made mozzarella. Bonus: Pass on the soups, but save room for the dessert tarts with seasonal fruit. 9008 W. 88th Ave., Westminster, 303-963-5305

We are so fortunate to have "Mario" and his wonder-full restaurante around the corner from where we live. Every meal has been an appreciative pleasure! And the staff are so gracious.

Mamma Mia is a wonderful dinning experience! This is not your typical, tacky, cold Italian restaurant. They have done an excellent job making the dinning room feel as though you have stepped into an authentic Tuscan restaurant or home. The service is the best I have seen in a while. Everyone is warm and friendly. The food is full of flavor. You will not be paying a lot of money for little portions as you would at other places. You will leave wanting to go back.

You'll be so glad you went to Mamma Mia Trattoria! My wife and I went on a friend's recommendation. The food was the best since our trip to Italy two years ago. I'm taking my son for his birthday.

It is very exciting to have such a wonderful, authentic Italian restaurant in our neighborhood. My husband and I have gone a few times, and we now take all visiting guests for dinner. Servers were professional and sincere. Absolutely delicious!

It's nice to have such a terrific restaurant so close to our home! We LOVE that place! My husband and I wandered in there one evening shortly after they opened, and we absolutely loved their food. We now go fairly regularly. I can't wait to try their Osso Bucco. (That's one of those winter dishes, if done correctly, it's truly the food of the gods.) The staff is terrific and wonderfully accommodating. One night, we went in for dinner when they were holding a special wine dinner for some guests, and we asked our server what dishes they served for the wine dinner. At the end of our meal, our server brought out a to go box with a sample of what they had served, for us to try. That's one of those personal touches you don't find very often.
