Coming Soon: Crema

With the advent of Hutch & Spoon and Larimer Hot House, North Larimer Street has seen a lot of activity lately. Completing the breakfast-lunch trifecta is Crema Coffeehouse, which is expected to open in a couple weeks. At 400 square feet, Crema is teensy, but it will be a shrine to coffee---locally based Novo Coffee, to be specific. Owner Noah Price (who comes by way of Paris on the Platte Cafe & Wine Bar and is also a co-founder of DVLP Clothing) is a self-proclaimed java snob determined to elevate coffee drinking in town: "I've been in wine for so long, and it's the same thing with coffee: Terroir tells so much of the story. I think you should taste the coffee wherever you go." Hence a streamlined and focused menu with French press, Americanos, cappuccinos, and lattes, as well as three syrups: vanilla, caramel, and a single-origin Ghana chocolate. Equally exciting is Crema's toast bar. Toppings will include unique goodies like butter, Nutella, cream cheese, jam, goat cheese, foie gras, or seasonal offerings like macerated tomatoes for bruschetta. There will also be a fresh juice bar---featuring carrots, celery, and beets to interesting ingredients like fennel---in addition to tea and a small selection of sandwiches, salads, quiche, and pastries.
