The 7 Resorts Opening This Week

800px-Steamboat_springs_ski_resort As Aspen Daily News columnist John Zelazny writes of the ski season upon us: "Opening day means a lot of different things to different people. Back to work, back to the slopes, once again sharing our town with the people that make it possible for us to live here." Snowstorms have helped---as have snowmaking machines---to enable Loveland Ski Area, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Eldora, Copper Mountain, Winter Park, and Wolf Creek to open early. And as of this week, skiers will be able to flock to most of Colorado's major resorts. Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and Telluride all open on Thanksgiving Day, notes The Denver Post. Monarch Mountain, Crested Butte, and Steamboat (pictured) open runs on Wednesday, and on Friday, Purgatory at Durango Mountain opens. Several other resorts aren't far behind: Echo Mountain opens December 2; Sunlight opens December 4; Silverton opens December 5; and Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk open December 12.
