Where to Buy a Custom, Vintage-Inspired Bridal Gown

Wedding+gownInspired by her love for historical fashion---especially the dramatic, feminine silhouette created by the corset and bustle---Colorado Springs-based designer Alisa Benay has been creating custom, vintage-inspired bridal wear for more than 15 years. Using her obsession with vintage gowns as a design basis for her dresses, Benay's current collection features 13 gowns, ranging in price from $2,000 to $5,000, as well as one limited-edition gown for $8,000. Each of Benay's bridal dresses are made upon order using high-quality fabrics, including silk taffeta and chiffon, tulle, and silk crepe, as well as custom-made European trims and laces---and even special details like handmade silk flowers. Although her gowns may be inspired by the past, her atelier is strictly modern. Benay strives to keep her business local by producing her line entirely in Colorado Springs, and she minimizes her company's impact on the environment by recycling leftover materials from her production process. We love having Alisa Benay's beautiful dresses in our shop! Not only do they bring the great vintage look, but Alisa's dedication to eco-consciousness in her gowns and her dress production are equally admirable. Alisa will be presenting her bridal designs and her green ideas at Vows on January 29th.
