Magazines Bouncing Back

After a rough couple of years, magazine ad sales are bouncing back:
It's only March, but Hearst Magazines' chief marketing officer, Michael Clinton, expects ad sales for his titles will be burning up this summer. Sales for April rose 12% compared to the same period last year. Now Clinton says May will be even better. Ad sales across 13 of Hearst's main titles are already up 17% for May, he says, and the month isn't fully booked yet. Hearst won't report official numbers until mid-April.
Hearst publishes such well-known titles as EsquireCosmopolitan,Good HousekeepingOprah andHouse Beautiful. I'm happy to report that we're seeing similar, if not better, trends at 5280. Sales for our May issue, which we're finishing up this week, are up 17.5 percent over last year, and April was up a whopping 24 percent over 2009. That's good news because, like most consumer magazines, ad sales represent the vast majority of our revenue, which means that we can continue investing in the kind of award-winning editorial content that our readers deserve.

I think magazines has not

I think magazines has not been hit like newspapers have been since the internet started to boom. I see them staying strong which is good to see. This is why ad sales have gone up.

Concrete pumping Toronto

This is great news to hear. Especially since the magazine I worked for folded last winter due to advertisers pulling out. Glad to hear that at least some of the industry is seeing things pick up!

Oh sure, the sales are bouncing back. But, Mr. Brogan, you have hit an all-time low in your attempt to sell more magazines. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Sound familiar? It seems you have resorted to promoting the demise of African Americans in our community, such as Mr. Shepherd and, recently, Mr. Michael Andre. I have news for you. The pioneers who founded the great state of Colorado were intent on paving the way of opportunity for future generations. The sky is truly the limit in this fine city for any person, regardless of their race, creed, gender, age, disability, etc. Your public lynchings are intolerable and abhorrent. Please leave our land of hope and opportunity; your values conflict with those upon which this State was founded, and you are not welcome here.
