Senator Michael Bennet's "Wow" Factor

Colorado Republican Party Chairman Dick Wadhams uttered only “wow" after hearing that U.S. Senator Michael Bennet is collecting signatures to ensure his name will appear on the Democratic Party's primary ballot. But the news evoked more words from Bennet's challenger, Andrew Romanoff, offering a chance to mostly boast about the recent past. "We are grateful to everyone who participated in that process---and proud to have won the caucuses, despite the barrage of corporate cash aimed against us," Romanoff campaign manager Bill Romjue tells The Denver Post. Bennet's campaign spokesman, Trevor Kincaid, tells The Associated Press Bennet is merely being diligent: The petition is part of an overall campaign strategy that has nothing to do with Romanoff's success in the caucuses. The Washington Post profiles former state House Speaker Romanoff, "once a rising star" of his party. As Romanoff is "rattling the doors of the party establishment that used to be his home," party officials "are not enthusiastic about challenges to vulnerable incumbents, which Bennet is."
