The Colorado Rockies' 2010 campaign opened yesterday, with the team showing signs of incredible power, as well as some potential red flags. The good: The Rockies looked great at the plate, led by third-baseman Ian Stewart's (left) huge homerun and a sacrifice fly---nice gifts on his 25th birthday (via The Denver Post). Outfielder Carlos Gonzales continued the stellar play that turned heads during the playoffs last year, going 4-5 at the plate and proving that he will be very expensive to keep in Denver for the long term. The not-so-good: Pitching. Ace Ubaldo Jimenez looked decent but gave up eight hits and struggled a bit with command and location (via Purple Row). He was the victim of a couple infield errors---by Troy Tulowitzki and Stewart---but he managed his game well and got the win. The bullpen looked terrible for the most part, with Matt Belisle and Randy Flores nearly giving up the game. Luckily, Matt Daley came in and saved a rough seventh inning, Rafael Betancourt had a nice eighth inning, and Franklin Morales did just enough to get beyond the ninth inning.
