Late last year, Amnesty International reported that more than 360 people had died since 2001 in Taser-related incidents. While law-enforcement agencies defend the use of the stun guns, they tend to be careful with them. So it's hard to find a word other than "boneheaded" to describe what happened at Lake County High School in Leadville on career day. Unbelievably, a group of students begged a county sheriff's deputy at a booth to give them a stun. And, even more unbelievably, he obliged (via 9News). Two of the students received minor burns and were taken to a local hospital, treated, and then released. One female student was allegedly shocked seven times at her request. About 30 students lined up for the treatment. School officials say they had no idea what was going on. As for the deputy, he's been suspended, and, according to CBS4, the sheriff's office is investigating.
